Without Knowing

Once an early overcast
I felt as a stranger in my home
As though I had just arrived
Making myself comfortable and alone

Awkwardly stepping here and there
Wandering around in gray
It not once occurred to me
I had died the prior day

My limbs chilled and still
Nicely positioned on the bed
My soul carrying on casually
Like the living but as the dead
