The Good In You

You tell me everything they’ve put you through
I can hear the hurt in your voice
Like me, they didn’t do anything to deserve you
But you loved them like you didn’t have a choice

They made you think your kindness made you weak
There wasn’t anything you wouldn’t do for them
But now you tear yourself apart every time we speak
And think maybe you were a part of the problem

I try to tell you there’s not a lot of people who could compare
But you just think I think you’re someone you’re not
I wanna promise to be different if the chance I get is fair
Even though I’m probably not worth a second thought
