A Poetic Joke

My golden days have turned to bronze

And still my heart begs and longs

Love has dodged me time again

Leaving me to clever worded sin

Riddles and rhymes I hoped would save

Pieces of me that lay engraved

Just one heart to love me so

To hold me close, never letting go

But not even my gift could convince a soul

That my love was worthy to be a goal
