Beauty Beyond the Red

This is hard for me to admit
But I owe you an apology
I lost my cool and you didn’t deserve it
Hopefully, you can forgive me
To be honest, I used to have a crush on you
You’re the type of beautiful that’s hard to get used to
But then there’s our religious and political views
I mean I’m Christian too but I never thought I’d have to choose
Between being a black liberal and liking a white conservative
I feel like wanting you is something my people would never forgive
I won’t lie, some of your stances and beliefs bother me
But as the scriptures say, how a man loves a woman is beyond me
If you still hate me after this I guess that’s okay
I’m just so conflicted and confused
Am I wrong for liking you, am I traitor for thinking about all day
