I can’t find any clever words for you
Most people are scared of what I might say
I’m used to watering down my words
And sugar coating what I really want to say
I remember you from my history class
Back when you worked at that grocery store
I always thought about and wanted to talk to you
But feared I’d end up wanting more
You were so cute in a beautiful type of way
What could I possibly say to a girl like you
How was the barely average looking poet
Supposed to know what to do
Compliments wouldn’t have worked
Poems would’ve been too strange
So I just smiled from a distance
At the girl way out of my league and range
