The Truth Behind The Fall

What becomes of anything
Nowadays nothing lasts
Not the thrill of the present
Or the memories of the past

It starts in small pieces
Then larger pieces are forgotten
Our identities gone with the night
Our bodies decomposed and rotten

So I hold on to nothing
Chasing daydreams and prayers
My life simple but complicated
Ordinary but in layers

For I do not desire to be a wealthy man
But a rich man indeed
All for peace and convenience
Not for power or greed

And I do not desire the most beautiful woman
But a beautiful woman who will love me
For beauty fades with time and perspective
But true love will keep us happy
