The Singer

You ignore the applause as you take the stage
Nervous about the notes you might miss
You try to remember all the lyrics that were on the page
People get crucified for stuff like this
Fighting through the pain of those six inch heels
Worried about your figure, you’ve been skipping all your meals
You look like an angel but you’ve had too much to drunk
The second verse is coming and it’s getting hard to think
Nauseous and dizzy by the bridge
You keep telling yourself it’s almost over
A couple of seconds later the crowd goes wild
You wave and thank God for not blowing your cover
