An Apology

 

Poems like a Joe Budden diss track
Exactly how you’d expect a black youth to act
Angry and scared, I hope you can understand
I never wanted to be like this, it wasn’t planned
Thinking about God and the things I’ve said
I admit my hatred for racism is my biggest issue
Remembering every scripture I’ve read
God like, “I expect better from you”
Self-reflecting on all my mistakes
I can honestly say I’m willing to do whatever it takes
To love everyone regardless of political or personal views
I just wish there was a way to get all my people to do it too
